What Types of Cases Go To Small Claims Court?
The Philadelphia Municipal Court hears cases where the amount in controversy is $10,000.00 or less. In the District Justice Courts, the amount in dispute must be $8,000.00 or less. Small Claims Court resolves disputes with contractors, insurance companies, and other businesses or individuals. For example, you may sue for breach of contract, damage to your property, or injuries sustained in automobile accidents.
